February 12, 2011- Bullets Invitational Meet @ York University (TTFC)
On Saturday, February 12, 2011, the MTA members attended the Bullets
Invitational Meet at York University. It was an excellent day
for competing as all the athletes were able to set indoor personal
bests in their events. In the Senior Girls category, Jenna Smith
started the day with a 1.35m second place result in the high jump.
She followed this with a fourth place finish in the 400m of 1:05.31,
then came tenth in 2:39.11 in a hard fought 800m race. Just ahead
of her in both races was Chloe Hewitt: 1:05.12 for third
in the 400m and 2:38.83 for eighth in 800m. Sandwiched between these
two girls, Amanda Vertesi had a strong finish of 2:38.85
to come ninth in the 800m, before getting a seventh place result
in the 1500m (5:24.00) and a third place of 1.35m in the high jump
competition. Lauren Brady soared 7.59m to come fifth in the
triple jump. In the Atom Girls competition, Maddie Leek had
an eighth place 3.81m result in the long jump.

13, 2011- Ontario Master Athletics Mini-Meet @ York University (TTFC)
In Toronto, at York University, Ontario Masters Athletics
held their fourth mini-meet. Rhona Trott, W60, leaped 3.67m
for her best result, in three years, in the long jump event. This
result came right after she ran a 34.24sec time in the 200m.

2011- AO Indoor Relay Championship & Prep #2 @ University of
Windsor
In Windsor, at the Athletics Ontario Relay Championship Meet,
Christian Brennan, Kristen Davidson, Lindsay Wallace
and Marissa Codispodi ran a hard sprint medley relay to win
the bronze medal in the junior girls section. Their time of 4:24.57
was a new club record. In the all-comers section of the same meet,
Christian handily won the 300m event with a seasonal best time of
39.66sec. Marissa and Tisha Graham were close behind, in
seventh and ninth positions with results of 44.99sec and 45.29sec
respectively. Savannah Laroche came second in the midget
girls 3kg shot put with a 9.55m effort.

June 2011 -
Della Gioventu Games in Macerata, Italy
Micaela Sacchetti was asked to participate in Track and
Field for the Giochi Della Gioventu Games in Macerata, Italy. It
was the events 150th anniversary. Athletes of Italian descent from
Canada, sponsored by the Centro Track Club in Toronto go to Italy
to compete with other athletes from Venezuela, Argentina, USA, Brazil,
Switzerland and Italy. Micaela competed in the 80m and was the starter
for the 4x 100m relay. Micaela met a lot of new people and it was
a great experience. The Opening Ceremonies was spectacular. It was
an experience for Micaela to train and compete with people from
all over. Micaela won 2nd (silver in the 80m ) and her relay won
gold and beat a record. Great work Micaela!!

2011 - Canadian Masters Outdoor Championships @ University of Toronto
At the Canadian Masters Outdoor Championships, Bill Thompson
of the HOC won gold in the 80m, 100m & 200m and placed a silver
in the 400m race!! Bill will be representing Canada and the HOC
at the upcoming Wold Masters Championships in Sacramento California
July 6-17, 2011.
